The TV sets in the previous times had an aspect ratio of 4:3 but today all the TV sets have the aspect ratio of 16:9. However, most television programs are designed according to the 4:3 aspect ratio formats. This format is beneficial for movies as well. You should also check the resolution lines for high definition TV sets. The standard television set has 840 lines of resolution from top to bottom. The high definition TV set has 1080 resolution lines. The television sets with larger number of resolution lines are better but they are very expensive.

The high definition TV sets are worth buying especially if you prefer to watch movies on cable or with a blue ray player. High definition TV sets are also good for video games. You must also check whether your TV set has progressive or interlace scanning. However the TV sets with progressive scanning have a better picture quality. Buying a LCD TV, Plasma TV or a Projection TV is much better than standard TV sets. Even though the LCD TVs are expensive they are worth buying because they look smart in the house and occupy less space. The Plasma TVs are less expensive than LCD TVs but they use up lot of electricity.

In the summer season you will have to keep your air conditioners on as they produce a lot of heat in the room. The projection TVs may have a front or back projection. It is possible to get a big picture worth your money when you have a projection TV with projection from back. But TV sets with projections from back are very bulky. The projection TV sets with front projections are also known as digital projector unit and screen. Selecting the best out of so many brands in the market is a task but one should be sure of the features they are looking for as this helps to narrow down the search.
